these are tattoos of diamonds, sparkles and glitter that i did on my hand in honour of a friendship that began with online correspondence. it began when a wonderful person named alexandra madeline contacted me to tell me how much she loved my book “mood dictated by sunset gradient”. the book is essentially just a week i spent on hospital when i thought i was going to die and i wrote everyday about how i felt and then printed it later. maddy is 19 far worse of than i am and has become my first close friend with cystic fibrosis. knowing her has allowed me to address this illness more wholly. when i turned 24 a few days ago something shifted for me and i decided i would try harder to survive this. i have always made it just by accident. i tattooed glitter and diamonds and sparkles because she said that’s how she wanted her coffin decorated. with maddy’s permission i may print some sections of our correspondence on this blog.
